Not Wasting, Wanting
Poetry inspired by life, encouraged by kindness, and an artistic need fulfilled. Join me as I explore a creative outlet in words instead of paint…
A good friend, who read my poems, gave me the courage to start something new. So, here I am, on Substack!
And so we begin…
Anew. We start.
Recently I wrote.
A burst of writing.
My hand captured magic.
In 5 poems!
Honestly, I was surprised by my creation. I paint when I have time, but these words came without warning or intention.
My friend didn’t necessarily encourage a Substack, but encouraged me to move forward with my words. And that kindness put me on this path. Please walk it with me.
Let’s be creative together!
My friend, mentioned above, is both a poet and a book editor, and gave me new life when he told me my poems were good. He quoted my lines back to me, said what he liked, how the words made him feel…
It was the best feedback I’d ever received.
Why can’t everyone provide this level of kindness?!?
Let’s focus on the positives instead of the negatives.
Here’s what I’m planning
Those first 5 poems lit a fire🔥 in me. I will write new poems and share them weekly.
I’m going to explore poetry to learn who I like, share lines that resonate with me, and request suggestions on who else to read.
I’d like to encourage positive thoughts and keep this a safe place for creatives.
And, because I find solace in creating, I may pair some of my work with custom sketches, drawings or paintings (like the small painting above).
Today, however, let’s kick off our journey with the following poem.
Moon Shine
I see you Peeking through
Bright sliver Smiling down
Burning blue light I call to Icarus
Why did you look To the sun
This mystery reflects Without fire
In bright shadows You could have soared
Let me know if these lines resonate with you. Reach out with suggested poets to read or follow.
Let’s not waste time, let’s create!
